Deconstructed Champagne Dinner Recap

Friday, August 28th may have been gloomy outside, but it was full of bubbles and good times at Laura Alberts/Island Park Room. Guests were greeted with Domaine Chandon Brut as they mixed and mingled with other attendees at the sparkling reception. As Domaine Chandon representative, Jason Guerra shared history of the winery, guests were poured the first course wine of Domaine Chandon, ‘12 Carneros Chardonnay paired with a Bibb Salad of Carolina Peaches, Heirloom Tomatoes, English Cucumbers, Toasted Pecans, Goat Cheese and White Balsamic Dijon Vinaigrette. There’s really nothing better than Carolina peaches, except, of course, the Sea Scallop Ceviche with Candied Citrus and Curly Endive leaves that was served with the Domaine Chandon, ’13 Carneros Pinot Meunier for course two. For the main entree, guests feasted on Pan Roasted Black Grouper, Lump Crab Corn Succotash, Red Pepper Coulis and sautéed Asparagus paired with Domaine Chandon, ’12 Yountville, Ramal Road Pinot Noir. The best part of the evening was the last pairing of Domaine Chandon Etoile Rose served with Dark Chocolate Mousse with Fresh Strawberries, Mint and Whipped Cream hand-made by pastry chef Zack Lewis.

Wilson Artisan Wineries Wine Dinner

In June, we had the privilege of hosting a wine dinner featuring Wilson Artisan Wineries. These boutique wines are limited production and the perfect addition to any dinner table. The culinary team at Laura Alberts wowed guests with renditions of classic favorites such as Smoked Salmon, Peppercorn crusted Filet Mignon and a house-made Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream Cake to finish the evening.

The full menu consisted a reception starting with Shrimp, Pineapple Papaya Salad on Fried Tortilla Chip, a First Course Salad of Boston Bibb & Arugula, Peaches, Heirloom Tomatoes, Toasted Pine Nuts, Myer Lemon Vinaigrette & Goat Cheese Snow. The second course was a delicious House Smoked Salmon, Pimento Cheese Grits, Blueberry Gastrique & a Squash Blossom followed by a third course of Tri-Peppercorn Seared Filet Mignon, Balsamic Glaze, Lobster Cake, Cajun Remoulade, Fennel Parmesan Scalloped Potatoes & Roasted Asparagus. Guests stuffed their selves into oblivion by enjoying dessert of Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream Cake with Crème Anglaise & Blackberries.

Mondavi Wine Tasting

In the world of wine, the name Mondavi means business. With a long history in technical improvements and marketing strategy, the Mondavi family helped put Napa on the map. On Wednesday, March 4th, the Island Park Room hosted Lydia Mondavi and tasted through five incredible wines from their various vineyards. On top of fantastic wines, the Mondavi family has expanded into the world of “fine living” and provided all guests with samples of their skincare line 29 Cosmetics made with grapeseed oil. Additionally, the Mondavi Home Collection features candles, flooring and various elements to elevate the joy of living.

Valentine’s Wine Dinner

If there’s one thing we love at the Island Park Room, it’s perfectly paired menus! On Saturday, February 14th, Laura Alberts hosted their annual Valentine’s wine dinner in the Island Park Room and featured wines of the old world. Each course was paired perfectly and left guests anxiously awaiting the next arrival. From fresh, buttery lobster bisque to miso-marinated Chilean Sea bass, the Island Park Room was full of love this Valentine’s Day!

Tenuta Tenaglia Wine Tasting

On November 19th, The Island Park Room had the pleasure of hosting Tenuta la Tenaglia Winery and experienced an evening full of amazing wine, music and laughter. Sales rep, Bruno, walked us through four incredible Italian wines from the Piedmonte region and sous-chef Chris MacDougal lead a cooking demonstration showcasing farm-to-table Thanksgiving appetizers to complement the wines. Tenuta’s own Roberto serenaded guests with traditional Italian music and shared his story of playing piano to earn a living before becoming a winemaker.
